What does a concert series called Moonlight have to do with the moon? At The Barnacle, nothing on the calendar. The Barnacle Society holds its Moonlight concerts on the second Friday of every month. This month that's November 13, when The 18 Wheelers take the waterfront lawn. The real full moon comes on November 24 at 9:53 a.m., eleven days later, according to timeanddate.com's Miami moon calendar. That date falls inside the City of Miami's second official king tide window of the month.
So the Grove has two calendars running in November. One is social and fixed to the second week: a Thursday night market, a Friday concert, a Saturday dog market. The other is set by the moon and pushes water onto low streets. This month the two barely touch. The second-week events land in the dry stretch between the tide windows. That gives Coconut Grove one clear weekend in the middle of the month, with high-water mornings on either side.
How the month lines up
| Dates | What | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Nov. 6–9 | First November king tide window, morning peaks | Citywide; low routes near the bay |
| Nov. 7, 9 a.m. | Electronics Recycling Day | Regatta Park |
| Nov. 12 | Vizcaya Village Night Market and after-hours tours | 3250 S. Miami Avenue |
| Nov. 13 | Moonlight Concert Series: The 18 Wheelers | The Barnacle, 3485 Main Highway |
| Nov. 13–15 | Coconut Grove Jewelry & Watch Show | The Hangar at Regatta Harbour |
| Nov. 14 | Fifth annual Holiday Barkzaar | The Barnacle |
| Nov. 20–22 | COUTURE Coconut Grove | The Hangar at Regatta Harbour |
| Nov. 23–26 | Second king tide window; full moon Nov. 24 | Citywide; low routes near the bay |
The king tide windows come from the City of Miami's King Tides page, which lists November 6 through 9 and November 23 through 26 as official fall 2026 dates. The recycling day comes from the Coconut Grove BID calendar.
The tide weeks are morning problems
The city's table puts every November peak in the morning. That matters more than the dates themselves.
| Date | Listed peak |
|---|---|
| Fri., Nov. 6 | 6:26 a.m. |
| Sat., Nov. 7 | 7:14 a.m. |
| Sun., Nov. 8 | 7:59 a.m. |
| Mon., Nov. 9 | 8:42 a.m. |
| Mon., Nov. 23 | 7:33 a.m. |
| Tue., Nov. 24 | 8:23 a.m. |
| Wed., Nov. 25 | 9:13 a.m. |
| Thu., Nov. 26 | 10:04 a.m. |
The first window opens Friday, November 6. Each day's peak comes about 45 minutes to an hour later than the day before, so the high water moves from dawn dog walks into the school run and the commute. The second window ends on Thanksgiving Day, with its latest peak of the month at 10:04 a.m. That's right when people are driving to family dinners or picking up a last order.
The Coconut Grove Spotlight names South Bayshore Drive, Kennedy Park and Myers Park as spots to watch. It also notes that a blue-sky day can still bring water into the street. The Spotlight adds that the highest tides come about three hours after moonrise and three hours after moonset. The city's advice is plain: avoid floodwater and don't drive through it, don't park in low-lying spots, and take care with boats near fixed bridges.
The November 7 recycling drop-off at Regatta Park starts at 9 a.m., less than two hours after that morning's 7:14 peak. If you're bringing old electronics to Dinner Key, plan a route that stays off the lowest blocks of South Bayshore.
None of the evening events this month fall inside a tide window. The second-week cluster starts three days after the first window closes and ends more than a week before the second one opens.
Thursday: Vizcaya Village after dark
Vizcaya's Night Market came back to Vizcaya Village on October 8 with a Harvest & Hispanic Heritage edition. It ran from 5 to 9 p.m. with free entry, and Vizcaya's event page described local food, cultural traditions, music and dance. The Miami & Miami Beach tourism listing says the market runs monthly on second Thursdays through June 10, 2027. That makes November 12 the second night of the season.
The reason to go in November is the tours. Vizcaya offers two after-hours walks of the Village, and they run only during the Night Market. The English tour starts at 6:15 p.m. The Spanglish tour, inspired by "¿Qué Pasa, USA?", starts at 7:00 p.m. Vizcaya lists both at $6. The tourism listing shows adult tickets from $8.24 once taxes and fees are added, so expect a higher total at checkout.
The Village also has a daytime schedule all month. The Vizcaya Village Farmers Market runs Sundays from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with free admission. It's listed for November 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29 and continues into December 6.
Friday: thirty years of honky-tonk on the bay
The 18 Wheelers play the Barnacle on November 13, the band's 30th year of making music in South Florida. They have a long history in the Grove: the Miami & Miami Beach event listing describes them as longtime performers at the former Scotty's Landing. Their set mixes original songs with Johnny Cash, Buck Owens and Gram Parsons. For the anniversary show, the band adds Laurie Jennings on vocals and guitar and Dana Keller on pedal steel.
Doors open at 6 p.m. and the music starts at 7. Admission is $20 for adults, $15 for Barnacle Society members and $10 for ages 6 to 17. Children 5 and under get in free. In its Autumn 2026 newsletter, the Society invites guests to bring a picnic or takeout, a blanket and their own drinks. Everyone has to carry out their own trash and recyclables. Pets aren't allowed.
Ticket money goes back into the park. Florida State Parks says the Barnacle Society sponsors events such as the moonlight concerts to raise funds for the historic state park.
Saturday: the same lawn, now with dogs
On Friday night the Barnacle bans pets. The next morning the same lawn hosts the dog event of the season. The fifth annual Holiday Barkzaar runs Saturday, November 14, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $7, and children under 6 get in free. Equipaws Pet Services and The Barnacle Society present it as a fundraiser for Paw Patrol Animal Rescue and the park. Equipaws' event page says each year draws more than 25 pet and food vendors. Planned activities include food from Chef Norlan and Cafe Vidita, live holiday music, Santa Paws photos, dog activities and holiday crafts.
Know the dog rules before you go:
- Dogs must be well behaved, at least four months old, and current on shots and rabies vaccination.
- The park waiver calls for a hand-held leash no longer than six feet at all times, and retractable leashes aren't allowed. The Barnacle Society's page also says dogs must be on-leash.
- Every attendee signs the park waiver. Aggressive, nervous or undisciplined dogs may be asked to leave.
Parking is on the surrounding streets. Equipaws suggests the pet-friendly Freebee to the Grove Playhouse parking lot, across from the Barnacle.
The Hangar fills the gap weeks
Two weekend shows at The Hangar at Regatta Harbour, 3385 Pan American Drive, fall in the same dry stretch. The Coconut Grove Jewelry & Watch Show runs November 13 through 15. Hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, according to Soul of Miami. A week later, COUTURE Coconut Grove runs November 20 through 22 with 11 a.m. openings. Culture Owl lists the Original Miami Beach Antique Show as organizer.
COUTURE closes on a Sunday. The second king tide window opens the next morning, with a 7:33 a.m. peak on November 23. The full moon arrives on the 24th, and the high water peaks later each morning through Thanksgiving.
The second-week schedule picks up again after that. The Barnacle's next Moonlight concert is Friday, December 11, with Will Thomas, a local favorite known for yacht rock and a Grateful Dead tribute.
For Coconut Grove owners along South Bayshore and the bayfront blocks near Kennedy and Myers Parks, the tide calendar affects more than the morning drive.
